Dr. Isaac Kalua Green is a Kenyan pub­­lic-inter­est strate­gist, eco­pre­neur, envi­ron­men­tal­ist, author, and sys­tems leader whose work is char­ac­ter­ized by inno­v­a­tive, dis­rup­tive think­ing that chal­lenges flawed mod­els and cre­ates viable, eth­i­cal alternatives.

For more than three decades, he has devel­oped and expand­ed sys­temic solu­tions that restore ecosys­tems, enhance cli­mate resilience, pro­mote sus­tain­able liveli­hoods, and show how enter­prise can align with pub­lic good across Africa and beyond.

Institutional Leadership

He serves as the Chief Stew­ard of Green Africa Foun­da­tion, estab­lished in 2000, and of Green Africa Group, envi­sioned in 1991. Through these orga­ni­za­tions, he has pro­mot­ed com­­mu­ni­­ty-focused restora­tion, cli­mate resilience, sus­tain­able liveli­hoods, and green enter­prise mod­els. His lead­er­ship phi­los­o­phy is based on the belief that stew­ard­ship must be sys­temic, eco­nom­i­cal­ly viable, and eth­i­cal­ly ground­ed to be sustainable.

Thought and Systems Leadership

Dr. Kalua Green is the author of Green for Life, a glob­al­ly focused lead­er­ship and sus­tain­abil­i­ty phi­los­o­phy that trans­forms stew­ard­ship into prac­ti­cal frame­works for indi­vid­u­als, insti­tu­tions, and nations.

He is the orig­i­na­tor of the Plant Your Age Move­ment and the Green Africa Vil­lages Ini­tia­tive, scal­able sys­tems that incor­po­rate ecosys­tem restora­tion, food secu­ri­ty, enter­prise devel­op­ment, and com­mu­ni­ty infrastructure.

Enterprise and Sector Strategy

His strate­gic and entre­pre­neur­ial activ­i­ties encom­pass auto­mo­tive and mobil­i­ty sys­tems, agri-food and eco-busi­­ness, hos­pi­tal­i­ty and eco-tourism, sus­tain­able fur­nish­ings, and nat­ur­al cap­i­tal mar­kets. These activ­i­ties are pur­pose­ly designed to strength­en pol­i­cy align­ment, impact mea­sure­ment, and long-term eco­nom­ic resilience, while sup­port­ing the mis­sion of the Green Africa Foundation.

Public Service and Governance

Dr. Kalua Green served a full statu­to­ry term as the inau­gur­al Chair­per­son of the Kenya Water Tow­ers Agency, a State Cor­po­ra­tion respon­si­ble for coor­di­nat­ing the con­ser­va­tion of Kenya’s vital water catch­ment ecosys­tems. He has also pro­vid­ed lead­er­ship in pri­vate sec­tor and civic plat­forms, includ­ing roles with­in the Kenya Pri­vate Sec­tor Alliance and the Kenya Asso­ci­a­tion of Man­u­fac­tur­ers, where he has guid­ed sus­tain­abil­i­ty and indus­try sub­sec­tor committees.

Industry Leadership

He serves as the inau­gur­al Chair­per­son of the Motor­cy­cle Assem­blers Asso­ci­a­tion of Kenya and has played a key role in shap­ing indus­tri­al pol­i­cy, stan­dards devel­op­ment, and local man­u­fac­tur­ing ecosys­tems with­in the mobil­i­ty and indus­tri­al sectors.

Awards and Global Recognition and Global Trust Roles

In recog­ni­tion of his nation­al ser­vice and envi­ron­men­tal lead­er­ship, Dr. Kalua Green has received Kenya’s high­est state hon­ors, includ­ing Chief of the Order of the Burn­ing Spear (CBS), Moran of the Order of the Burn­ing Spear (MBS), and the Head of State Com­men­da­tion (HSC).

In Decem­ber 2025, he was hon­ored by Kenya’s Pres­i­dent as a Nation­al Hero for his life­long con­tri­bu­tions to envi­ron­men­tal stew­ard­ship and nation­al devel­op­ment. He also serves in pub­lic trust roles, includ­ing as an Hon­orary War­den of the Kenya Wildlife Ser­vice (Nation­al Cadre), Trustee of Inter­na­tion­al Lead­er­ship Uni­ver­si­ty among others

Dr. Kalua Green is a long­stand­ing colum­nist on sus­tain­able devel­op­ment and social trans­for­ma­tion, whose writ­ing has reached mil­lions around the world. He is deeply ded­i­cat­ed to men­tor­ship, lead­er­ship growth, and inter­gen­er­a­tional knowl­edge shar­ing, work­ing close­ly with emerg­ing entre­pre­neurs and young lead­ers to turn val­ues-based ideas into prac­ti­cal action.

Life and Family

Dr. Kalua Green has a great pas­sion for devel­op­ing young tal­ents in var­i­ous spheres of entre­pre­neur­ship through a hands-on men­tor­ship program.

Dr. Kalua Green is a Chris­t­ian whose life and lead­er­ship are anchored in unwa­ver­ing prin­ci­ples of integri­ty, stew­ard­ship, and ser­vice. He is mar­ried to Susan Cherotich, and togeth­er they are blessed with three chil­dren: David Kiseko, Michelle Ndunge, and Joy Musyawa
